What to Wear: Party Dresses

Monday, November 25, 2013

Such a wonderful time of year when we whisk away from cocktail party to family dinner to cocktail party...I love this cold, frigid season of events because it means that we all get to play dress up. Here are a few tips on where to shop party dresses without breaking the bank.

Happy Isabel Marant for H&M Day: DIY Isabel Boot

The time has finally come. The countdown on the H&M website says 11 minutes, and I'm at the point where I might just wait it out and see what happens.

For those of us who do not snag an awesome pair of Isabel boots, I've pulled this DIY out of the old dust closet for you.

Inspired by Isabel Marant Fall 2011 boot collection.

GET THE LOOK: DIY EDITION

You'll need: Black Boots (I recommend these), Black Suede Fringe, Scissor & Glue Gun
Cut 2-3 strips of fringe per boot. You want a layered/extra fluffy fringe effect!

After gluing down the first piece of fringe, glue down the second piece about an inch above.
This will give the boot more body!
I'd still like a pair of Isabel's, however slouch it, style it, and good to go.

What to buy when Isabel Marant for H&M hits stores tomorrow?

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

Ugh. Whatever you can get your hands on...so long as you are willing to spend the cash $$$$$. The line is a bit more upscale in terms of pricing, so let us hope and pray that the typical H&M leather quality has increased.

I do want to take a second though to remind that Isabel is the fashion industry's french ballerina princess that makes me feel comfortable caring about clothes and fashion. She's casual, smart, has a brand that thrives, and I just want to listen to her talk all day long. That accent is magnificent. Take a look:

And lastly, don't forget about Isabel's Etoile line that offers amazingly chic, cozy pieces...that not EVERYONE who is anyone will be wearing come Friday. The price tag may be a bit higher than H&M, but sometimes these collaborations make our CPW (cost per wear) go up!

It. Is. Freezing. Outside.

November 13, 2013

It is freezing outside!! Although it's not the best situation because everytime I step outside I feel as if my nose is about to fall off...at least I can take comfort in a cozy sweater and wool skirt that I've been dying to test drive. Was able to pick up this TopShop skirt on a fun shopping spree with fellow blogger, Danielle of We Wore What while shooting a project for work, so pretty psyched to finally get it strutting down the streets of SOHO (or... honestly, sitting at my desk because it's way too cold to be outside).
