DIY New Years Accessory: The Headpiece

Monday, December 30, 2013

I'm excited for New Years Eve tomorrow, and am finally getting to putting together a look. I've been sick and just not too excited. But, the show must go on. I want to share a DIY project I came up with for New Years last year. This one stays relevant, and is a cool, abnormal add on for New Years Eve.

The Materials
Pliers
Jewelry Findings, including a 1 hole-to-3-hole bead (available at all bead and craft stores, or...)
These from Etsy should work great:

Measure from the end of your part on your forehead, to the back of your crown. Cut one piece of chain to fit that length.

Measure the circumference of your head, at the level where you would like for your headpiece to sit. Cut a piece of chain to fit that length, and attach as shown.

Cut two 2.5" pieces of chain, and attach to create a floating effect.

Etsy Roundup: Spruce Up Your Home This New Year

Friday, December 27, 2013

Introducing my Etsy round up. Just another excuse to spend hours and hours browsing through my favorite marketplace. It amazes me that not everyone knows about Etsy. As a designer, I use it for everything from inspiration, to supplies but it goes so much further than that. The clothes, the vintage bags and jewelry, the housewares, the handmade furniture, the light fixtures, and custom pillows! I could go on.

This week's round up is inspired by the new year. Start fresh, add a new touch to the home and feel like you are in a fresh place, ready to take a fresh start. I'm not into resolutions, however I am into the feeling of cleansing, and starting anew. So of course, my answer to that is to find cool things on Etsy, and redecorate.

All images are sourced from Etsy, and link to their product pages where you can purchase or browse.

My roommates are both on vacation, and will be quite surprised when they get home.

What to Wear: The Weekender

Lots on the horizon this weekend. Tonight, I'm excited to meet up with my friend PraDipTee from Napal. We first met on a 7 hour car ride to Vermont and instantly connected. I love hearing stories about her village, and she loves laughing at stories of my New York. We'll be heading to Times Square (ew, but fine), and then for some eats downtown. Must.stay.warm!

The Weekender: Week of 12/27

Friday
(On the town with PraDipTee)

Saturday
(Dinner and Upright Citizen's Brigade with Jeff and his Dad)

Sunday
(Lunch with the family at The Carlyle)

There is only one time when it is essential to awaken, and that time is now.

DIY The Perfect Gift: Coaster Sets (As Seen on The Style Line)

I was excited to discover the perfect gift--for a coworker! My director at work is the best, so I wanted to show her how much I appreciate her. I ended up having so much fun with this project that I personalized sets for three different coworkers.
